What we’ve been up to….

Hi y’all! So yes I went AWOL this summer and have neglected to post anything, my bad!  We’ve been busy house and dog sitting as well as spending lots of time with family and friends. Summer flew by and now that it’s fall (and almost winter….yuck!) I figured I’d better get back into update mode.

Our first summer dog sit was back in Oakville looking after the sweet whippet pup Ziggy and his senior Pharoh hound brother Zuka for 3 weeks in July. Boy were they 3 hot weeks, I think we showered at least 2 times everyday because of the heat and humidity. Even walking in early morning and at night it was ridiculously hot. But the dogs needed their walk and Oakville has some amazing urban trails, it’s a great way to see the area. We also took some time to explore the waterfront which is lovely. We hadn’t spent much time in the city before and I have to say it is beautiful.

My cousin Laurel also lives in Oakville, about a 5 minute drive from where we were house sitting so got to catch up with her so that was fun.

We also got to see the Oakville emergency room up close and personal one day. Dave had an acute gout attack in his knee and could barely walk. His knee was HUGE and the pain was excruciating!! Once they extracted the fluid and tested it, confirmed it was gout, they got some meds into him and he was almost back to “normal” the next day. Good way to get out of dog walking Dave!!

Next we house and dog sat at a country property near Milton. Gorgeous renovated, old house with a wraparound back deck with great views. The dogs, Chimo and Nukka are about 8 years old and registered therapy dogs so very well trained and lots of fun to look after. We went for daily walks in the local conservation areas and even managed to get paddleboarding a couple of times. It was a pretty nice September in Ontario.

Dave’s sisters from BC both spent quite a bit of time here this fall and Peg found the most adorable puppy to take back home with her. When he was old enough to leave his mom, he got to spend a week here with us, getting used to his new Mom and being separated from his litter mates. Boy you forget how sharp puppy teeth are but wow so much fun, and such a cutie! Meet Stevie!

Just fnished up a week long house and dog sit for my cousin who lives near Port Colbourne. Gorgeous place, right on Lake Erie so it was like a mini vacation for us. Her dog Allie is a Jackshit (jack russell/shitzu cross) who is a little sweetie. Also looked after her son’s dog Lily who is a lab mix, a bigger sweet goofball. Enjoyed going out for daily walks with these two crazy dogs, good fun for sure plus great to visit with Cathy and Larry.
