Back in Canada2.jpg

Actually we’ve been back since June 30th, took us a month to drive here from Port O’Connor Texas.

We took our time, after our fishing stop in Matagorda Bay, Texas we stopped again in High Island Texas (close to the Louisiana border) for a few days but our crappy luck continued, no keeper fish.....although Dave did hook a BIG

I almost can’t believe I’m saying this but we finally left Port O’Connor on Thursday, May 30th. We hooked the truck up for it’s first tow with the new engine and headed north to an RV park in Matagorda Bay. Only a 2 hour drive but it was the perfect way to see how the truck would perform. …

Believe it or not we got the truck back on Friday, May 17th as expected, YAY! But,( isn’t there always a but with this thing!) we immediately noticed a rattling noise that wasn’t there before...CRAP! It sounded like it was coming from the middle of the dashboard when ever we hit a bump. …

Truckless in Texas....AGAIN!

At the end of my previous entry all was good with the truck and the next update was supposed to filled with all kinds of pictures of the cool sand sculptures from the Sandfest we were going to at the end of April.

So when I did my last update, I posted a picture of our truck being towed away on March 21st because it wouldn’t start. We were hoping it would be fixed quickly but that was apparently too much to ask for because we didn’t get it back until April 11th. We were truckless for exactly 3 friggin’ weeks.

As Dave said, he wanted to bore you with the details about the truck problems and the repairs made so if you’re interested....read on! If not, don’t!

It started with a small oil leak which turned out to be a seal broken on the high pressure oil pump that drives the fuel injectors. …

Hanging out in Port O’Connor, Texas

P3170003.JPG

So we’ve been in Port O’Connor for just over a month now and its been colder than normal here, just a few days in the high 70s, even fewer in the 80s. The wind hasn’t let up very often making fishing not the most pleasant past time. Despite that, Dave and I have been fishing a lot, but not catching much. …

Avoided Nemo, made it to Texas!

Wow did we time our departure right! When we left Southern Ontario on Feb 6, it was snowing a bit when we left Newmarket but as we headed west to cross the border at Sarnia/Port Huron it got sunny and it was clear driving all the way to Middlebury, Indiana, our first pit stop.
