For those of you wondering where Dave and I are, we’re still in Ontario. We just finished a 10 day house/cat/dog sitting for my sister-in-law Ruth. She and her husband just got back yesterday from Barbados, yes we’re jealous.
So when are we actually going to get on the road and on with this adventure? Hopefully sometime this week. Our current plan is to drive down to Alabama, then across the Florida panhandle, down the Florida gulf coast, around the keys and then back up the Atlantic side to Orlando by mid April.
The reason we’re headed for Orlando is because we’re flying from there, to San Jose, Costa Rica for the month long house sitting job we landed back in January. We’ll be looking after a cat and 6,000 sq. ft home in central Escazu which is a suburb of San Jose. The house sits at about 4,000 ft so the temperature will be very comfortable and the views...fantastic! A maid will be coming twice a week and a gardener once a month. Plus we get use of their car for day trips etc. Sounds great doesn’t it!
Apparently this area has a lot of ex-pats from the US, Canada and Europe living in it so most people speak English, but I hope to practice and learn more Spanish while we’re there.
We’ve had quite a bit of contact with the homeowners (they’re originally from the US) and they sound like a great couple. They’ve already been extremely helpful.....it’ll be nice to finally meet them in person.
